RETAIL EXPANSION SUMMIT & EXPO CODE OF CONDUCT FOR EVENT PARTICIPANTS. 

 

RETAIL EXPANSION brings together industry professionals for in-person events, to exchange ideas and views and to share industry perspectives and experience. 

 

RETAIL EXPANSION is committed to providing a safe, productive, and welcoming environment for all event participants. All participants, including but not limited to attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, industry partners, exhibitors, service providers, and others (“Event Participants”), are expected to abide by this Code of Conduct. This Code of Conduct applies to RETAIL EXPANSION events, whether in-person or virtually.

 

This Code of Conduct outlines RETAIL EXPANSION’s expectations for participant behavior as well as the consequences for unacceptable behavior. RETAIL EXPANSION promotes equal opportunities and treatment for all Event Participants. All Event Participants are expected to treat others with respect and consideration, follow venue or virtual forum rules, and to alert staff to any violations of this Code of Conduct, dangerous situations, or any participant in distress.

Code Of Ethical Conduct

  • Maintain a professional level of courtesy and respect with all Event Participants during all RETAIL EXPANSION Events.

  • Promote a positive and collegial atmosphere free from harassment and other unacceptable, disruptive, or intrusive behaviors.

  • Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior and speech.

  • Be mindful of the surroundings and fellow Event Participants, and alert organizers to potentially dangerous or harassing situations or someone in distress.

  • Drink responsibly at RETAIL EXPANSION Events where alcohol is served. Be free from illegal drugs or impairment as a result of use or misuse of any other substance. Alcohol use or other forms of intoxication are never accepted as an excuse for violating this Code.

  • Conduct yourself in a professional and appropriate manner. This requirement includes complying with all applicable laws 

  • Support the work and mission of RETAIL EXPANSION and avoid any action detrimental to the interests of RETAIL EXPANSION.

Unacceptable Conduct

Unacceptable behavior includes:

  • Engaging in derogatory, demeaning, or insulting speech or actions. Discussion of opposing or different viewpoints is appropriate but is expected to be conducted in a respectful tone and manner that avoids personal attacks

  • Engaging in disparaging, negative, defamatory, or false statements about RETAIL EXPANSION, staff, or fellow Event Participants

  • Engaging in criminal acts and/or actions or inactions that affect the reputation of RETAIL EXPANSION, as may be determined by RETAIL EXPANSION in its sole discretion

  • Engaging in physical or verbal abuse, bullying, threatening, intimidation or coercive behavior, or efforts to annoy others, which in any way creates a disturbance that is disruptive or dangerous or creates reasonable apprehension in a person

  • Engaging in or facilitating discriminatory, harassing, or inappropriate behavior on any basis (including, but not limited to, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, national origin, marital status, gender identity, inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images in RETAIL EXPANSION-sponsored spaces or in presentations, yelling at or threatening Event Participants, stalking or unwelcome following, harassing photography or recording, or unwelcome physical or verbal contact or sexual attention.)

  • Engaging in any action that causes disruption to RETAIL EXPANSION Event(s) or otherwise interferes with event participation. All Event Participants must comply with the instructions of the moderator and any RETAIL EXPANSION staff.

Additional Rules

In addition, Event Participants must adhere to the following rules:

  • The scope of remarks or discussions should be limited to the subject of the presentation, reserving unrelated issues for direct communication with the authors and/or presenters.

  • Any selling, marketing, or representing a company or organization for the purpose of obtaining advertising, sales, or subscriptions from any attendee, sponsor, exhibitor, or other participant is prohibited, without RETAIL EXPANSION’s prior written consent.

  • The recording or sharing of any meeting, event, or related materials (including education sessions, presentations, demos, etc.) in any format is strictly prohibited, without RETAIL EXPANSION’s prior written consent.

  • Firearms, knives, other weapons (including weapon replicas, unless submitted and approved in writing in advance by RETAIL EXPANSION), explosives, and any other hazardous materials or substances or illegal items are prohibited.

As with any professional event, Event Participants often combine professional activities with social interaction with other attendees, staff, and other Event Participants. While RETAIL EXPANSION encourages networking and strengthening of connections between Event Participants, RETAIL EXPANSION reserves the right to remove or block any participant whose social attentions become unwelcome to another (whether in-person or online) and who persists in such attentions after the unwelcome nature of their behavior has been communicated. RETAIL EXPANSION also reserves the right to remove or block any participant who engages in conduct that interferes with the ability of others to participate in and enjoy the live or virtual event.
